Answer:

Number all the letters from A to Z as 1 to 26 as below;

So you will get

B = 2

E = 5

H = 8

C = 3

Now to arrive at the answer there one more step and we use the following formula;

BAT = 60 – (value of B) = 60 – 2 = 58;

Similarly;

EAT = 60 – (value of E) = 60 – 5 = 55;

HAT = 60 – (value of H) = 60 – 8 = 52;

CAT = 60 – (value of C) = 60 – 3 = 57;

So we can solve the values for MAT and RAT as;

M = 13 and

R  = 18.

So;

MAT = 60 – (value of M) = 60 – 13 = 47;

RAT = 60 – (value of R) = 60 – 18 = 42;

Hence answer is;

MAT = 47 & 

RAT = 42
