Fun WIth Maths: Find the Missing Number in The Picture – Cars Version

Let us represent the cars with letters to make it easy to solve.

Let’s us assume the following;

B = Blue car

R = Red Car &

G = Green car.

So we can convert the equations as;

B + B + B = 18  —-(1)

R + R + R = 9    —-(2)

G x G – G = 6    —-(3)

B X R – G = ?    —-(4)

From (1)

B + B + B = 18
3B = 18
Therefore;
B = 6

From (2)

R + R + R = 9
3R = 9
Therefore;
R = 3

From (3)

In case of (3) you can use the trial and error method to get the value of G;

I could figure out 2 numbers that can take the value of G in the equation.

G can be 3 or -2

So let’s put both the values in the equation (4) and find the value of the missing number.

B X R – G = ?

6 X 3 – 3 = 18 – 3 = 15

&

6 x 3 -(-2) = 18 + 2 = 20

So the 2 possible answers are 15, 20.
