Let the number of tennis balls with Shaun be S &
Number of tennis balls with Anna be A.
From the given information we can write;
A – 4 = S + 4
A – S = 8
S = A – 8 —–(1)
And also;
A + 4 = 2 x (S – 4)
A + 4 = 2S – 8
A + 12 = 2S —-(2)
Multiplying equation (1) with 2
2S = 2A – 16 —–(3)
From 2 and 3
A + 12 = 2A – 16
Therefore;
A = 28
Anna has 28 tennis balls &
Shaun has 20 balls.(from (1))
