Math Riddle: Find the Area Of The Square In The Picture

Test your skills in geometry with the help of this fun riddle.

Triangle BDC, shown in the picture below, has an area of 48 square units.

If ABCD is a rectangle, what is the area of the circle in square units?

If you get the correct answer, share it with your friends on WhatsApp, Facebook and other social networking sites.

Answer: 36π square units.

Explanation:

As per given information:

Area of Triangle BDC = 48 sqr.units.

We also know the following;

CD = 8.

Let r be the radius of the circle;

Since ABCD is a rectangle;

BC = AD = 2r.

So from the given information we can write;

Area of Triangle = 1/2 b x h

48 = 1/2 (2r x 8);

48 = r x 8;

r = 6.

Area of circle = πr^2 = π6^2 = 36π

Answer = 36π square units.
