Logical Riddle: How Many Rungs Does The Ladder Have?

A firefighter stands on the middle rung of a ladder, spraying water on a burning building.
He climbs up 6 rungs before the heat of the flames causes him to come down 10 rungs.
After some minutes he is able to climb 18 rungs to the very top of the ladder.
How many rungs does the ladder have?

The fire fighter is on the middle rung when he starts and goes up 6 steps and then 10 steps down so he effectively goes 4 steps down from the middle rung.
To get to the top he has to climb 18 rungs, which means he crosses 14 rungs from the middle rung.
Since the number of rungs from the middle rung will be same on both sides, we have 14 rungs on each side.
so the ladder has 14 + 14 + 1 = 29 rungs
Answer = 29 rungs.
