How Many Heads of Ravana Need to be Cut?

Try out this riddle in the festive season.

You are in war with the 2^nd generation Ravana. (Indian Mythological character with 10 heads)

This Ravana has an ability to grow his head back.

For every 2 heads that are cut he can grow one head.

If the only way to kill him is by cutting all his heads off, how many heads would you need to cut to kill Ravana?

Answer:

Ravana has 10 heads.

So when you cut all 10 as per his ability he will grow back 5 heads.(No. of heads cut 10)

Once you cut the 5 heads, 2 heads will grow back and as soon as you cut one of these 2 heads one more head will grow up. (no. of heads cut = 6)

You will have 2 heads now, so when you cut these 2 heads one more will be back. .(No. of heads cut 2)

Then you can cut the last head and kill him..(No. of heads cut 1)

So the total number of heads would be = 10 + 6 + 2 + 1 = 19
