Answer:
Let ‘A’ be the number of Octopulus, ‘B’ be number of Septapuslus and ‘C’ be number of Spanepulus.
A + B + C = 18………….. (1)
8A + 6B + 6C = 118….. (2)
2B + C = 20………………. (3)
Solving this 3 equations,
Rewriting (1)
B + C = 18 – A…………… (4)
Rewriting (2)
8A + 6(B + C) = 118
Therefore;
B + C = (118 – 8A)/6 …..(5)
From (4) and (5);
18 – A = (118 – 8A)/6
108 – 6A = 118 – 8A
Therefore;
2A = 118 – 108 = 10
Therefore;
A = 5.
Substituting value of A in (4)
B + C = 18 – 5 = 13
Rewriting (3)
B + (B + C) = 20
B + 13 = 20
Therefore;
B = 7
Substituting value of B and A in (1)
A + B + C = 18
5 + 7 + C = 18
Therefore;
C = 6
Answer: A=5, B=7, C=6
